 Broker Associate Notification

A broker acting in the capacity of a salesperson for another broker/corporation under written agreement who performs acts for which a license is required on behalf of the responsible broker/corporation is considered a broker associate. The broker associate may use eLicensing to effect a change of affiliation to a responsible broker on his/her record. The effective date of the change is the date the new responsible broker certified the request through eLicensing.

The broker associate will be required to enter the new responsible broker’s license identification number as part of the eLicensing transaction.

If the responsible broker email address is provided, an email will be automatically forwarded from eLicensing to the broker advising him/her of the pending request and the need to complete the transaction through the certification process.

The new responsible broker will need to certify, through the eLicensing system, the new affiliation before it can become effective. Once the responsible broker has certified the broker associate’s request and if a broker associate email address has been provided to eLicensing, an email will be sent to the broker associate advising that the transaction is completed.

The broker affiliation will display on the Public License Information page.

Please note:

  • All other changes pertaining to an individual broker license, such as changes of mailing/main office address, adding or cancelling fictitious business names, or updates to contact information should be submitted using eLicensing or mailing the Broker Change Application, form RE 204.
  • A broker associate cannot also be the designated officer of the same corporation at the same time.
